The 31st International Holy Quran Fair has introduced an Artificial Intelligence (AI) section that brings Quranic stories to life.
Mustafa Zabet, the director of the AI section, shared that
the collection features AI-generated images depicting various Quranic narratives.
These include the stories of the Companions of the Cave, Hazrat Zakaria, the
Hadith of Kisa, Hazrat Ibrahim, and the historical practice of burying girls
alive during the Jahiliyyah.
Interestingly, the creators of these works are not
traditional artists or graphic designers, instead, they are individuals who
provided descriptions of Quranic stories, which were then transformed into
visual art by AI, he said, adding that each image also includes verses related
to the depicted story.
Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are first greeted by
a gallery of AI-generated Quranic story images. Further into the exhibition,
there is a collection of books where each paragraph of a Quranic story is
accompanied by an AI-drawn illustration.
The exhibition also features animations that bring Quranic
stories to life, Zabet said. “Despite not being created by professional
animators, these AI-generated animations are of high quality and are based on
narrations of Quranic stories.”
A new addition to the exhibition is an interactive robot
that can converse with visitors and create AI-generated drawings based on their
requests, he said.
Lastly, the fair introduces an AI school, where anyone
interested in this technology can learn more about it and even create their own
AI-generated works, according to Zabet.
The event opened its doors at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla
on March 20 and runs until April 2.
The fair, which coincides with the Nowruz holidays, invites
enthusiasts to explore its offerings daily from 5:00 PM to 00:30 AM local time.
It provides a family-friendly atmosphere, ensuring a welcoming space for all
ages. The fair also features Iftar tables for visitors to break their fast
together following the Maghrib and Isha prayers, fostering a sense of community
and shared experience during this blessed month.
The fair features various Quranic institutions and
governmental bodies, as well as international participants from 25 countries.
It also highlights the issues of Gaza and Palestine and the role of the Quran
in inspiring resistance. The fair aims to familiarize people with Quranic
concepts through artistic, cultural, and theatrical mediums, especially for
children and teenagers. It also offers sections on Nahj al-Balaghah, Quranic
research and consultation, Quran translation, and easy Quran memorization.
